The player who keeps asking why →

Some players are happy to know what to do.

Others want to know why.

Why did that pass work? Why was there space there? Why did the defender move? Why did the coach stop the game?

That curiosity can be useful.

Football is full of situations that do not have one obvious answer. Asking questions can help players understand the game instead of simply remembering instructions.

It can also change the way they train. Rather than just trying to get something right, they start noticing what makes it work.

A player who understands why they are doing something has more chance of adapting when the situation changes.

The answer will not always be obvious. Sometimes they will get it wrong. That is part of learning too.

You do not need to have an answer for everything.

Sometimes the better starting point is simply being willing to ask why.
